UCP’s Assistive Technology (AT) service offers a full range of devices, equipment, training, and supports that equip people to live with a greater degree of independence at home, at work, at school, and at play. Our AT services not only make everyday living easier for the user; they make otherwise impossible tasks possible.

AgrAbility PA

A collaboration between Penn State Extension and UCP Central PA that supports agricultural workers with disabilities or a long-term health condition looking to remain active in productive agriculture.

Assistive Technology Resource Center (ATRC)

Through Advocacy, Training, Referrals and Community Awareness, people with disabilities and their family members can learn how to effectively advocate for their loves one’s assistive technology needs.

Changing Hands

An equipment reuse program for assistive technology and adaptive equipment for individuals who may not be able to obtain services. All equipment is offered free of charge and can be picked up at our Changing Hands locations. Please contact the AT Specialist to schedule a convenient pick-up time.

Demonstration Center

A resource that provides one-on-one and group demonstrations of assistive technology equipment. UCP’s Assistive Technology Specialist will help you make an informed decision about what technology fits your needs.

Independent Living Technology

A service designed to provide you with peace of mind by supporting you or your loved one’s independence through the use of varying types of technology.

Lending Library

A partnership with TechOwl that allows you or your family member to borrow tools or assistive technology devices to trial and determine if these items will work for your needs. Items are easily shipped directly to your home.

iCanConnect

iCanConnect, the National Deaf-Blind Equipment Distribution Program (NDBEDP), provides low-income individuals who have combined hearing and vision loss access to equipment, services and training at no cost.

TDDP

PA’s Telecommunication Device Distribution Program (TDDP) provides free adapted telephone equipment to eligible people with disabilities or older adults who can’t use a phone independently.

Changing Hands, the Lending Library, and TDDP are supported in part by TechOwl. TechOwl is the Commonwealth’s Assistive Technology Act Program at the Institute on Disabilities, Temple University, and is funded through a grant from the Administration on Community Living, US Department of Health and Human Services.
