Expanding Awareness of and Access to Assistive Technology Resources throughout Central PA

Pennsylvania has nine designated Assistive Technology Resource Centers (ATRCs). UCP Central PA is the ATRC serving the assistive technology needs of individuals with disabilities, and seniors, throughout the midstate region.

What an ATRC Provides

A - Advocacy to help identify and pursue funding sources for assistive technology and to overcome other barriers encountered by people with disabilities.
T - Training and demonstrations of assistive devices.
R - Referrals and information about assistive technology devices, services and funding.
C - Community awareness activities to help people with disabilities and the public to understand the benefits and potential of assistive technology devices and services.

What UCP Provides

Device Demonstrations

Device demos by our AT staff are hands-on opportunities to learn more about different devices so individuals and families can make an informed choice about what will work best for them.

Device Loans

Pennsylvania residents of any age and ability can borrow AT devices, free of charge, to try at work, school, home, or in their community. This enables individuals with disabilities and their families and caregivers to make an informed decision before a device is purchased.

Public Awareness

We provide information and referral services to help educate individuals and families about their choices of AT devices and providers. UCP, in our role as ATRC, participates in events to provide information to individuals and providers about the potential of AT devices and services.

Training and Technical Assistance

UCP Central PA offers training to service providers in order to increase their AT-related knowledge and skills. UCP also provides technical assistance to public and private agencies to develop and improve policies related to access to AT devices and services.

UCP, as a Designated ATRC, Serves the Following PA Counties
