Collectively and individually, the LifeFit staff’s primary mission is to teach healthy lifestyle habits, including exercise and nutrition, to consumers with intellectual and developmental disabilities, many of whom are at greater risk for obesity and chronic health problems. According to the Centers for Disease Control, 33 percent of adult Americans are obese. That percentage is even higher among adults with disabilities.
Our LifeFit Program Offers:
- One-on-one consultations with an experienced Fitness Clinician designed to increase physical activity.
- Partner or small group health and wellness coaching sessions in the home or at a fitness center of your choice.
- Consultations or ongoing diet and menu planning with UCP’s Registered Dietitian.
Improving Health and Overall Wellness
Most importantly, the LifeFit Program offers individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities--perhaps for the first time in their lives--the knowledge and ability to improve their own health and overall wellness. By providing fitness and nutrition education and modeling healthy living, we empower them to improve their health and increase their ability to perform activities of daily living.
Our Fitness Clinicians and Registered Dietitian have the education (related Bachelors degree or greater), experience, and motivation to help each individual program participant reach his or her personal goals. They also have experience working with individuals with all levels of intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, and chronic illnesses. Meet our LifeFit Team.
