Community Participation Supports
Community Participation Supports (CPS) is a forward-looking approach to the traditional center-based adult day program. The philosophy of CPS is simple: to provide individuals with as many choices as possible so they can experience meaningful personal growth, development, independence, and joy.
UCP currently operates 14 Community Participation Supports in six counties throughout Central PA. Our Program staff have experience working with individuals with all levels of intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and behavioral challenges.
CPS offers a stimulating environment that is designed to meet each individual’s uniquely identified strengths and preferences, as well as their abilities. By providing ample opportunities to more fully engage in the world around them, we encourage participants to:
- nurture their curiosity
- pursue their interests, desires, and dreams
- increase their independence
- develop and nurture valued relationships
- achieve their full employment potential
- give back to the community as volunteers
- build their natural support network
- experience meaningful community inclusion
A variety of volunteer opportunities are available at each of our adult day program locations.
Funding for Community Participation Supports is available through:
- Consolidated Waiver
- Person Family Directed Support (PFDS) Waiver
- Autism Waiver
For further information on waiver funding, we recommend that you contact the Office of Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities in your county of residence.
